The Hartford Town Beach is located on Thompson Lane (off Church Street), Hartford, Maine
Residents of Hartford are allowed to use the beach after purchasing a Beach Sticker at the Town Office for $15.00
If a guest pass is needed, the resident must visit the Town Office to request one.

HARTFORD BEACH POLICY
The following rules shall apply to the use of the Hartford, Maine beach and parking area. The rules apply to both the designated swimming area (beach) and the non-designated swimming area of the property unless otherwise stated.
a) Only residents/property owners of the Town of Hartford may obtain parking passes for use of the Hartford Beach. Resident Pass Fee=$15.00 annually.
b) Only residents/property owners of the Town of Hartford may request guest passes for their guests. Guest Pass fee=$5.00/ day or $10.00/week. Maximum=1 week per Guest Pass.
c) Guest is defined as a person invited to visit the beach with the resident/property owner.
d) Beach parking passes must be purchased at the Hartford Town Office and must be displayed on the vehicle in order to park on property along Thompson Lane.
e) Swimming Lesson participants may purchase a pass for the remainder of the season, once lessons are completed, at the Hartford Town Office. Swim Lesson Pass=$20.00.
f) Organized groups shall request prior Selectboard approval for proposed use of the parking/beach area for private group activities that use or occupy significant portions of the parking/beach area and that may hinder or interfere with the general public use of the parking area/beach. The Board may impose conditions on the proposed use for public health, safety and welfare, and maintenance of the beach.
g) Permit requests for use of all or a portion of the property by groups for organized public events shall be submitted to the Selectboard and the Board may impose conditions on the proposed use for public health, safety and welfare, and maintenance of the beach.

Town of Hartford Beach Ordinance
Section 1. Purpose.
The purpose of this ordinance is to protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the residents of Hartford by establishing standards for the Town–owned recreational land known as the Hartford Beach, located adjacent to the Pine Shores subdivision. This ordinance establishes policies, access, and limitations by means of guest or other permits and the purchase of stickers at the Town Office.
Section 2. Authority.
This ordinance is adopted pursuant to Title30- M.R.S.A. §3001, et. Seq. The ordinance may be amended by a majority vote of residents at a Town meeting.
Section 3. Administration.
The Selectboard with the advice of the Town Constable may adopt rules governing the use of the beach and associated lands mentioned above, and may designate or appoint an agent or agents, such as the Town Constable, to ensure that rules are obeyed. Such rules shall be posted and shall be binding on all persons using the recreational facility. Violation of these rules shall be subject to the penalties described in Section 7, Enforcement.
Section 4. Parking Permits.
Only those motor vehicles displaying a permit from the Town Clerk shall park along Thompson Lane, or on other Town lands abutting the Town beach. All other vehicles will be subject to a citation and possible fine in accordance with the Town of Hartford Pine Shores parking ordinance. The Selectboard shall create or designate permits as necessary to meet this requirement. Any fee schedule for permits shall be established by the Selectboard only after
notice and public hearing. All fees shall be used to defray the Town's costs of maintenance and enforcement of rules. The Selectboard shall hire a person or persons to check for permits
.Section 5. Motorized Vehicles
No Motorized vehicles are allowed on the beach, except in the case of emergency or accessibility, such as a motorized wheelchair. Motorized watercraft are not allowed to be launched or landed at the beach, or navigated within 100 feet of the beach, except by written permission given by the Selectboard for a specific event.
Section 6. Health and Safety
A. All persons using the Hartford Beach for recreation do so at their own risk. No lifeguard will be present.
B. No fires, including portable barbecue set-ups, will be allowed on the Beach or in the parking lot.
C. No animals except ADA Service Animals will be allowed on the Beach. ADA Service Animals must be leashed by Maine law at all times.
D. No weapons of any kind are allowed on the beach or in the parking lot.
E. No alcohol or drugs of any kind are permitted at the beach or in the parking lot, nor will breakables be used at the beach or in the parking lot.
F. Anything carried in by the beach user will be carried out by the beach user and removed from not only the beach, but the parking area as well. No trash cans will be available. The Town adheres to Maine State park carry-out standards.
Section 7.
Enforcement. The Selectboard shall be responsible for enforcement of the Beach Ordinance and may designate an agent or agents for this purpose. Any person who violates this ordinance shall be guilty of a civil violation and will be issued a citation subject to a fine of not less than $25 or more than $100. Such person shall also be responsible for the Town’s attorney’s fees and costs incurred in enforcing this ordinance.
Alternatively, the Selectboard or their authorized agent{s} are hereby authorized to enter into Administrative consent Agreements for the purpose of resolving violations of this ordinance and recovering fines. Such Agreements shall not allow illegal use of the Town Beach to continue.
Section 8. Sale of Property.
The Board of Selectmen shall not negotiate for the sale, lease or disposal of lands referred to in Sections 1 and 4, above, without action by Town Meeting.
Section 9. Severability.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this Ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision. Such holdings shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof.
