Hartford is home to a variety of community organizations that serve residents and preserve the town’s heritage. The following organizations are active in the Hartford area.
Bear Mountain Riders ATV Club
The Bear Mountain Riders ATV Club maintains ATV trails in the Hartford area and organizes group rides and trail maintenance events. The club welcomes new members; find the Bear Mountain Riders ATV Club on Facebook.
Hartford Food Bank
The Hartford Food Bank provides food assistance to residents in need. The food bank operates out of the Sumner Congregational Church.

Hartford Heritage Society
The Hartford Heritage Society preserves and promotes the history of Hartford, Maine. The Society operates the J&O Irish Store Museum, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Lake Associations
Lake Anasagunticook Association
The Lake Anasagunticook Association works to protect water quality and promote responsible use of Lake Anasagunticook (also known as Thompson Lake). The association monitors water quality, manages invasive species prevention, and organizes community events.
Bear Pond Improvement Association
The Bear Pond Improvement Association is dedicated to preserving the water quality and natural environment of Bear Pond. The association conducts water testing, maintains boat launch areas, and advocates for shoreland protection.
Local Libraries
Hartford does not have its own public library but is served by two nearby libraries:
- Increase Robinson Library - located in Sumner, serving Hartford and surrounding communities
- Zadoc Long Free Library - located in Buckfield, offering books, programs, and community meeting space
